Damn you, Kathy.

Slow down.

Take a minute to let those words settle in.

The growing consensus in our society is that in order to be successful, or even moderately comfortable, one has to constantly move at a break neck pace.

Lounging around translates into being lazy and unproductive.

For the last few days I subjected myself to a voluntary quarantine because of a nasty case of the flu. Any sort of physical exertion was exhausting, I could not taste the food put in front of me and I had a nasty cough that threatened to strangle me every time I laughed.

And I was not alone. At school last week, it seemed like every other person one encountered was also ill.

Having to put my life on hiatus also forced me to put it in a different perspective.
