We too easily call each other “friend.”
For some of us, it may be out of a sense of loneliness, of wanting to have some bond with another human being.
But a friendship takes time to grow, and you aren’t true friends until you’re able to share things with one another.
There is a certain amount of self-disclosure that must come from both parties; otherwise you may find yourself in a very one-sided relationship, which isn’t much of a mutual situation at all.
There must be reciprocity, and more than a little empathy and sympathy.
